Topanga Canyon is a 12-mile-long scenic, recreational and wilderness community in the picturesque Santa Monica-Malibu Mountains accessible via the 101 Freeway to the north and Pacific Coast Highway 1 to the south.\u00a0 <\/span>Topanga State Park boasts the largest natural wilderness within the boundaries of a major city in the world, is habitat to hundreds of species of birds, plants and animals and features 36 miles of hiking and biking trails through open grassland and live oak savannah with seasonal waterfalls and spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fabled Topanga Canyon is one of California\u2019s most vibrant, interesting and creative communities with<\/span> a varied history going back 2,000 years when the Tongva tribe lived and hunted in the canyon, attracted by access to fishing in the Pacific Ocean and creeks, hunting and gathering in the canyon and taking shelter in Topanga\u2019s caves.\u00a0 Topanga was colonized by Mexicans in 1839, with pioneers settling in the late 1880s.\u00a0 Many of the nooks and crannies of the canyon still bear the names of the original homesteading families such as the: The Cheneys of Garapito Creek, the Trujillos of Old Canyon, the Trippet Family Ranch, Bonnell Family Ranch, Jesus of Santa Maria, (also a mail delivery horseman), as well as notorious banditos such as Tiburcio Vasquez who hid out at the \u201cRobber\u2019s Hut\u201d stone house.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Topanga Canyon hippie history includes <\/span>notable musician residents such as <\/span>Neil Young, Woody Guthrie, Joni Mitchell, Marvin Gaye, Chris Robinson from the Black Crowes, Stephen Stills, John Densmore drummer of The Doors, Taj Mahal and more.\u00a0 Today, Topanga Canyon is still home to many musicians, artists, writers, and celebrities in film, TV and theater.\u00a0 Topanga Canyon has been described as a high energy vortex which also attracts many healers, energy workers, spiritualists, psychics, astrologers, and creatives with whom you may book sessions.<\/span><\/p>\n
